Red Dog

Also known as acey-deucey or in-between. Two cards go down, and the question is simple: will the third one land strictly between them? You see the gap before you decide whether to raise. Played for virtual coins only.

Raise doubles your bet. Call deals the card as it stands.

Pick an opening bet and press Deal. A fresh, shuffled 52-card pack is used for every hand.

How to play

  1. Choose an opening bet and press Deal. Two cards are turned face up. Aces are high, twos are low, suits do not matter.
  2. Consecutive cards, such as 7 and 8, leave no room in between. The hand is a push and your bet comes back.
  3. A pair brings a third card straight away. If it makes three of a kind you are paid 11 to 1; if not, it is a push.
  4. Anything else has a spread: the number of ranks strictly between the two cards. A 4 and a 9 have a spread of 4 (5, 6, 7 and 8).
  5. Now decide. Raise adds a second bet the same size as the first; Call keeps it as it is. Either way, the third card is dealt.
  6. If the third card falls strictly between the first two you are paid by the spread. Matching either end card, or landing outside, loses.

Dealt: how often the first two cards give that spread. Lands inside: the chance the third card falls between them, out of the 50 cards left.

The only real decision is the raise. With a spread of 7 or more the card lands inside more often than not (28 in 50 or better) at even money, so raising there helps you; below that, raising only makes the losses bigger.

Never raising, the exact long-run return is 90.81% of your opening bets. Raising on every spread of 7 or more lifts it to 96.84%. A simulation of 4,000,000 hands with this page's own code agreed with both figures to within a tenth of a percent.

Evening, traveller. Are you 18 or over?

Jack Vegas is a social casino for adults. The coins are pretend, but the games are casino games, so the door only opens for grown-ups.

Answering yes also means you have read the house rules. Nothing here costs money and nothing here pays it.
