Six decks in the shoe, a dealer who stands on soft 17, and a hint button for when you cannot remember what to do with a soft 18 against a nine. Played for virtual coins only.

Pick a bet and press Deal. The shoe holds 312 cards and is reshuffled when fewer than 78 remain.

How to play

  1. Choose a bet of 10, 25, 50 or 100 coins and press Deal. You get two cards face up; the dealer gets one up and one face down.
  2. Number cards count their number, picture cards count 10, and an ace counts 11 unless that would take you over 21, when it counts 1. A hand with an ace still counting 11 is called soft.
  3. Hit for another card, Stand to stop. Go over 21 and the hand is bust.
  4. Double on any first two cards: your bet doubles and you take exactly one more card. You can double after splitting too, except on split aces.
  5. Split two cards of the same rank into two hands, each with its own bet. One split per round. Split aces get one card each and a 21 made that way counts as 21, not blackjack.
  6. With an ace or a ten-value card showing, the dealer checks for blackjack before you act. Then the dealer draws to 16 and stands on every 17, soft ones included.

Blackjack pays one and a half times your bet. On a 25-coin bet that is 37½, which we round up to 38 in your favour; on 10, 50 and 100 it is exact. A push is a draw: your stake comes back and nothing is added.

Playing exactly as the hint suggests, our own simulation of 10,000,000 hands with this page's code returned 99.58% of coins staked. Playing on hunches usually returns less. More on the numbers.

18+ Coins here are virtual. They have no cash value, cannot be bought or withdrawn, and nothing you collect can be swapped for money or prizes.

Evening, traveller. Are you 18 or over?

Jack Vegas is a social casino for adults. The coins are pretend, but the games are casino games, so the door only opens for grown-ups.

Answering yes also means you have read the house rules. Nothing here costs money and nothing here pays it.
